Easter will be here before you know it and this adorable easter bunny garland is the perfect decoration. Using drop cloth fabric, these bunnies are sure to make all your farmhouse easter decor dreams come true!
I don’t know about y’all but bunnies are popping up in all my spring decor this year, they are just so versatile, I plan to use them all spring long. Even more fun, we have REAL baby bunnies due any day now, Eeek! I can’t wait to get some baby bunny lovins!
If you saw my no sew fabric bunnies, these are the same concept. I’ve provided step by step instructions with a video tutorial to make this easter garland easy as can be. No sewing required!
supplies needed for your easter bunny garland
- drop cloth or your choice of fabric
- hot glue gun
- scissors
- polyfil
- needle and thread or jute string
step one: cut out your bunny template
Below I have provided a FREE pattern for you to use (feel free to use it for your other easter crafts). If you prefer, you could easily draw your own bunny pattern on a piece of paper.
STEP TWO: TRACE YOUR BUNNIES ONTO YOUR FABRIC
Trace your bunnies onto your drop cloth fabric. I used a pencil and then flipped over my bunnies before gluing so you wouldn’t see the pencil markings.
How long you want your garland to be will decide how many bunnies you need to trace. You will need two bunny cutouts to make one fabric bunny. I made 6 bunnies in the end but I cut 12 bunnies out of my fabric.
STEP THREE: CUT YOUR BUNNIES OUT OF YOUR FABRIC
Now you could just cut each bunny out individually, or you could save time by using my tip below.
TIP: After tracing my bunnies out, I cut squares around them and layered the fabric squares on top of another, then started cutting all the bunnies at the same time. This saved me from having to individually cut each bunny out. Make sure you use a good pair of scissors!
STEP FOUR: GLUING YOUR BUNNIES TOGETHER
Using your hot glue, start gluing your bunny together along the edges. Starting with the bunny’s head and ears, working your way to the bottom of the bunny, stopping to stuff the bunny along the way.
IMPORTANT! Make sure you leave the bottom of the bunny open to stuff (or stuff as you go, like me)
STEP FIVE: STUFFING YOUR BUNNIES
As you glue your bunnies together, I find it easier to stop and fill the bunny along the way. You could wait until the end but I prefer to fill the bunny as I glue. I find that filling the bunnies as I go produces a cleaner look and my glue doesn’t dry as fast.
TIP: use a wooden spoon or stick to push your filling into hard to reach spots (such as the inner ear shapes)
STEP SIX: MAKING YOUR DIY BUNNY GARLAND
Using a needle and thread, you will weave your thread through the bunny, and out the bunny.
First, take your thread or string and loop it into your needle.
Once secured, you will push the needle through one end of the bunny, coming out the other end of the bunny until each bunny has been threaded through.
and that’s all there is to it! How easy was that? You made an DIY easter bunny garland.
IDEAS FOR USING YOUR DIY EASTER BUNNY GARLAND
