Life in Our Little Blue Cottage

notes from a small home with a big heart.

Our little blue cottage wasn’t something we set out to curate. It became what it is slowly — through seasons, children, animals, and the quiet routines that shape a home over time. This space holds muddy boots by the door, bread cooling on the counter, and the kind of beauty that comes from being used and loved.

Small Home, Big love

When we bought this little house, it didn’t make much sense on paper. It was small for a growing family, and my heart had always imagined animals, gardens, and wide stretches of grass. But the moment we stepped inside, there was a knowing—a quiet, steady burning in my gut that said this is home. It felt like purpose. Like God had already written our family into these walls, and we were simply stepping into what had been prepared for us.

And somehow, the more we loved her well, the more she seemed to love us back—holding our days, our growth, and all the life unfolding inside her.

The Heart of the Home (Kitchen / Pantry / Coffee Corner)

This kitchen wasn’t designed to impress — it was designed to be used. It’s where meals are made daily, where recipes are written in pencil, and where the house feels most alive.

Quiet Corners & Collected Things

Collected, not decorated. Many of the things in our home have been found slowly. Thrifted, passed down, or brought home because they felt familiar. I love a home that tells its story, quietly.

Ahh, our backyard homestead. Life here isn’t polished. It’s muddy, noisy, and full — and I wouldn’t trade it. Our days are shaped by the seasons and the animals that depend on us. Some days are marked by the sound of goats calling from the yard, chickens scratching at the ground, ducks moving in their quiet little line, and a sheep standing close, as if keeping watch over it all.

The Courtyard (A Place to Pause)

Tucked between the work of the homestead and the quiet of the cottage is our courtyard—a small space that invites us to slow down. It’s where morning coffee lingers a little longer, where baskets rest after long days, and where beauty is allowed to exist simply because it brings peace. This space reminds me that a full life needs both purpose and rest.

life at the cottage

Life here in our little blue cottage isn’t something I’ve tried to perfect—it’s something I’ve learned to listen to. Between the walls that hold our family, the homestead that shapes our days, and the quiet spaces that invite rest, this life feels balanced and full in all the right ways.

I share it here not as a finished picture, but as an open door. A reminder that home is less about size or style, and more about the love, purpose, and presence we bring into it.

This is life in our little blue cottage — simple, imperfect, and deeply loved. I’m glad you’re here.
