How to make the BEST Gingerbread using a Bread machine and brown butter frosting!
Are you ready for your home to smell of this spicy gingerbread recipe with a hint of cinnamon and ginger? Go ahead and get in the holiday spirit. Turn up that Christmas music while you bake! Have a holly jolly christmas. Okay now that we have that covered, let’s get started!
Step One
Start by adding your wet ingredients to the bread pan in the order listed above. Dry ingredients go last. (Don’t forget to add your paddle attachment to the bottom of the pan)
After you have added your ingredients to the bread machine pan, you will add the pan back into the bread machine and select the setting for non-yeasted breads on your bread machine] then press start.
Setting Tips: On my bread maker, this setting is called the “cake” setting, but it may be called something like quick bread, or sweet bread on yours. Just make sure it is the setting that does not require yeast. It is best to check your bread machine manual to be sure on the specific setting you should use for non yeast breads.
Now, It’s time to walk away! Let the bread machine do all of the mixing and baking. Leaving you more time to go do some holiday shopping, yay!
Step Two
Once your bread machine is done baking the gingerbread loaf, use oven mitts to remove the bread pan from the machine and place the pan on a cutting board to cool down and continue ‘baking’ for the next 10 minutes.
Step three
After the gingerbread has cooled down, carefully turn your gingerbread onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Now, make the brown sugar frosting!
While the gingerbread is cooling completely, we will make our brown butter frosting!
Start by melting your butter in a large sauce pan over medium heat until golden brown and bubbling, 3-5 minutes. Careful not to walk away, brown butter can burn fast. Once you see tiny brown bits, remove the butter from the heat. Whisk in powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract.
Spread the brown butter frosting onto the completely cooled gingerbread loaf. Then top with chopped pecans (or walnuts)
This gingerbread loaf is sure to impress your guest. Serve and Enjoy!
Why use a bread machine to make gingerbread?
Using a bread machine to make this gingerbread is easy, and mostly hands off.
Using the bread machine takes all the hard work off of you and frees your hands to do some more holiday baking, or simply gives you more time to do some online holiday shopping all while the aroma of fresh homemade gingerbread fills the room.
A Bread Machine gives you the flexibility of making homemade fresh breads without the extensive time and work involved. Whether you use your bread machine to knead and bake an entire loaf, use the cake setting to make sweet quick breads without yeast, or simply use it to knead and rise your dough cycle only (basically fool proof) it is going to make your dreams of making homemade bread for your family a reality.

TIPS SECTION FOR MAKING THIS BREAD MACHINE GINGERBREAD WITH BROWN BUTTER FROSTING:
- Make sure you choose the correct setting! Every bread machine is different in the way they label their settings. On my machine, I selected the ‘cake’ setting ( for recipes like banana bread) This means, it’s NOT a yeast bread. Some machines have it listed as a “sweet quick bread cycle” meaning it is for sandwich-type breads (that wont work for this recipe) It’s very important that you check the manual for the specific model of bread machine you are using.
- Take a peak inside and use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bread pan to make sure all of the flour has been incorporated before the baking cycle begins.
- If your machine tends to not mix your ingredients all the way, or has soft spots in the center of the loaf, you can do two things. Whisk your ingredients in a separate bowl then dump into the machine to bake or, if your gingerbread looks like it may not be done when the bread machine timer goes off, you can select the ‘bake’ cycle to cook a little longer. Always check with a toothpick or a fork before pulling the bread out of your machine.
- Use pot holders when removing the pan from the bread machine. These are the perfect small pot holders for your bread machine, they do not touch your bread when trying to lift it up out of the machine like when you use oven mitts.
HOW TO STORE GINGERBREAD WITH BROWN BUTTER FROSTING?
