How to make Bread Machine Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting
These homemade cinnamon rolls are made using the dough setting on a Bread Machine. The bread machine will mix, knead and rise the dough at the press of a button. The only thing you will have to do is shape the rolls, bake them, and spread on the cream cheese icing. Sounds easy, right?
Making the cinnamon roll dough
To begin, place all of your ingredients inside the bread machine pan in the order listed. Dry ingredients go last.
2. Select the dough cycle on your bread machine then select start. The dough cycle usually takes around 1 hour to complete.
PS..You can mix the cinnamon filling and the cream cheese icing while you wait.
3. Once the dough cycle is complete, place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and then roll your dough into a large rectangle shape.
Make and spread the the cinnamon roll filling
After rolling out the dough, you will spread softened butter and the cinnamon mixture filling onto the dough.
Combine the cinnamon mixture in a separate bowl and whisk together.
Spread your butter even with a spoon, then sprinkle your cinnamon mixture onto the dough. Spread it even with your hands if needed.
Make sure not to use melted butter. This will pour out the sides when you start to roll your cinnamon roll and create a mess.
Next, we roll the the cinnamon rolls
After adding your cinnamon roll mixture, next we will roll the cinnamon roll dough up tightly, and then slice into rolls.
I am going to show you the easiest way to get perfectly cut cinnamon rolls, every time by using a a thin piece of string to cut the rolls instead of a knife.
Run the thread across the bottom of the cinnamon rolls, bring it over the rolls, crossing the threads over each other, then pull tightly to slice! That’s it! So easy and actually really satisfying to do. If you don’t have a piece of string handy, a sharp knife, sawing back and forth, will do. Just be careful not to squish the rolls!
Place the cinnamon rolls into a prepared casserole dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
Now we let the cinnamon rolls rise
After shaping and cutting your cinnamon rolls, place your cinnamon rolls in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size. It’s okay if the rolls start to touch after rising, fluffy cinnamon rolls is what we are going for here!
Bake the cinnamon rolls
After your rolls have doubled in side, bake them at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Next, spread the cream cheese icing onto the cinnamon rolls
Once your cinnamon rolls are done baking, let them cool.
While the cinnamon rolls are cooling off, we will make our cream cheese frosting.
1. Using a stand mixer, Beat powdered sugar and butter together until combined.
2. Add cream cheese, vanilla and lemon juice then mix again until combined.
Once your icing is mixed, spread onto the cinnamon rolls while they are still warm. This will allow the icing to get down in the edges.
You will have extra icing left, you could freeze this for another recipe.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Can I make these bread machine cinnamon rolls the night before?
Yes! There are a few ways to make your bread machine cinnamon rolls the night before.
The first way is, to use the bread maker to make your dough, then place the dough into a bowl, wrap with plastic wrap and stick in the fridge until morning. In the morning, set out your dough. Then just follow the same directions to shape, roll and bake the cinnamon rolls.
The second way is to stick your rolls into the fridge already rolled and ready to bake. Make your cinnamon roll dough, shape it and roll it tightly. Slice the rolls, then add the rolls to a casserole dish. Stick in the fridge until morning. In the morning, set the rolls on the counter, preheat the oven and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes or until doubled. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

You can freeze the cinnamon rolls once they are baked or before baking them.
